Has anyone gotten a Logitech Wingman Extreme to work?

I have the driver 1.2.15, but no matter what i do, when i do the make command, the joystick.o and other modules build fine, but when i try to insmod them, i get a kernel mismatch error saying that the module was built for 2.4.20. i cant find any place in the makefile to change what kernel it is being built for, and I cant find an answer to this anywhere at all, so if anyone has gotten this to work, please let me know how, I'd really like to get this joystick going.

Linux does see the joystick, when i plug it in by usb, it reports lots of info about itself, but also states that it is not claimed by an active driver, and any of the js devices have nothing attached to them, of course.
