Has anyone got linksys print server to work? WPS11
I'm running RH 8.0. I am a newbie at linux, however i do have a brain and try hard. Ok here is my question has anyone been able to get the Linksys print server WPS11 to work with linux? Does anyone have any ideas on how i can do this? I tried a jetdirect, but i don't know which port to use. So i nmaped it and tried prot 515 and 631. The printer did nothing when i test printed a ascii page.
By the way in the print config i can turn on AppleTalk or NetBEUI would this help? Thanks for any help, Matt. Here are the results from a nmap of the print server. Starting nmap 3.20 ( www.insecure.org/nmap/ ) at 2003-03-30 13:55 MST Interesting ports on 192.168.1.100: (The 1607 ports scanned but not shown below are in state: closed) Port State Service 23/tcp open telnet 80/tcp open http 515/tcp open printer 631/tcp open ipp Nmap run completed -- 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 7.336 seconds [mlbaker@localhost mlbaker]$ |
I have a 3-port Linksys printer server working on a LAN with Win2K, OS X, OS/2, and Linux. Works great.
On Linux, I used the RH8 printer configurator tool to set it up as a Unix (lpd) printer - IP address of linksys and queues L1, L2, and L3 for the corresponding printer ports. |
it works
Thank you for the help! I discounted the unix printer option right from the start. Sheesh... Anyways i added a new unix printer with no queue name and with the ip. Works great so far!
Thank you again, Matt. |

Re: Printer port wps11
Bill,
Im sorry I dont think I can help. I dont know what port it is working on. The only option I selected was unix printer, and typed it its ip. Thats it. Good luck in your search. Thanks, Matt |
Thanks... I think I am a complete nimrod!! The answer to my question is in the original post in the thread... port 515 should work. I will try it when I get home.
