hardware settings - transfer speed
Can you help ?
I have started experimenting with Linux on a two year old Dell. Intel Pentium III, 996 MHz, 256 MB of Ram.
I have installed Fedora Core 3, and I immediately had some 150 updates to install. This went very slowly (3 Kb per second) and this made me think that maybe there was something wrong with my internet connections.
Also whenever I download pages on internet (Firefox), pages load very slowly : it looks like a modem connection.
On the other hand, copying and transferring other documents from a local hard drive to an external hard drive, is very fast.
My internet connection is broadband, via a 3com router because I share my internet connection with two or three wireless computers and laptops. Even when these are not working there is no change.
Can you help.
