Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Hardware RAID on IDE disks

I have setup hardware RAID-1. That was extreamly easy to install Windows on it.
Now I want to install Linux ( Slackware 10.1).

I wonder how to detect raid disk under shell ( with fdisk ) ?
I started Live CD distro - Slax. I tryed to use cfdkis and fdisk but none of drive woud be found

fdisk /dev/hda
fdisk /dev/hdb
fdisk /dev/hdc
fdisk /dev/hdd

fdisk /dev/sda
fdisk /dev/sdb
fdisk /dev/sdc
fdisk /dev/hdb

None of above command worked.

What kind of hardware RAID controller do you have?

Have you tried 'dmesg | grep hd' or similar to see if they are detected during the boot?

RAID controler: VIA VT6410 RAID
and attached disks: 2x Seagate ST3120022A

In instalation Slackware 10.1 there is 2.4.x kernel.
In live CD Slax there is

It would be enough for me to have access to those disks from fdisk or cfdisk under Slax ( 2.6.12 kernel - live CD).
All I need is to know how to do it?

I tryed:
fdisk /dev/rd/c0d0 or: fdisk /dev/ida/c0d0 (for RAID devices)
and in answer received:
Unable to open /dev/sda
When i typed dmesg | grep hd then it receive to me:

root@slax:~# dmesg |grep hd

ide1: BM-DMA at 0xffa8-0xffaf, BIOS settings: hdc:pio, hdd:pio
