Thanks H_TeXMeX_H,

I know my disk configuration is not particularly fast but I keep an eye on disk performance with iostat and they never get any close to 100% usage.
EG: "iostat -xm 5"
I thought this was enough to exclude the disks from the possible causes.

Anyway, next time I bump into another video with stuttering problems I'll run some tests.
