Hardware detection

I recently installed a new video card (GeForce 4). It wasn't detected when I booted linux and now I can't start XWindow since I took my old card out. Is there a utility to make linux search for new hardware or specifically tell it to use this card? I'm using RH 7.0

You need to reconfigure X by using Xconfigurator. Your distro is kind of older to, make sure your version of xfree86 supports your card as well. www.xfree86.org

I have two hard drives, windows on one linux on the other and I can't download the newer release of xfree86 on my linux drive because I can't start x :(

You don't need X to download anything, you have command line browers, try typing lynx or links into a bash prompt.

Another option, but you'll need the url is wget, it's a command line download utility.

Cool
