Harddrive dying.

My drive appears to be dying. I keep getting all sorts of errors. Once they start, there is nothing more that I can do but manually restart the comp. This happens a few times an hour if i push the system. I have gotten these errors as well as some others.

kernel: journal commit I/O error
end_request: I/O Error, dev hda3, sector 34873

I have to hit Y whenever the comp starts up to check the drive to check the drive.

What are the correct methods to run e2fsck as well as checking for bad blocks. My goal if possible is to find what sectors are bad and reinstall avoiding fedora to use these blocks. I'm not sure if that can be done. Any help would be great.

I think a better option would be to get a new hard drive. Bad sectors have a way of growing like a cancer throughout the drive, until it is completely unusable.

I agree with bushidozen... Back up your critical data and just get a new drive... It will not get better only worse.
