harddisk changed from secondary to primary
initially when i installed fedora 2 on my hardisk it was not the primary one, the addresses of the partitions were like this
/dev/hdc10 /dev/hdc11 ... and now when i made the same hd the primary, fedora 2 is going into some unknown security mode whlle booting. and unable to mount some of its partitions. how can i retain the original configurations? |
Put your hard drive back on the secondary IDE channel and boot from it. Edit the file "/etc/fstab" and replace all instances of "hdc" with "hda". Then shut down your computer and put the drive on the primary IDE channel.

I might be wrong, but guys will correct me if so.
as you said the partitions were /dev/hdc10 /dev/hdc11 and now, when the disk is primary, it is /dev/hda note, no longer hdC, but hdA. probably that's why fedora acts so weird. /edit already answered. that's why I love this forum :) |
