Hard drive probs

this really has nothign to do with linux, but i just got a new hard drive because both of my other ones stopped responding, and the one that has all my stuff that i want is on it, wont spin up anymore, anyone have any ideas on how to make it at least spin up so i can pull all my files off it?

Firstly I'd be a bit worried if two drives failed....are the cables ok?.......is the mobo buggy?

Anyway...as a last resort....when all else fails....try jolting the drive like this;

Hold the drive with your thumb on one side edge of the drive and your fingers on the other side.
Then rapidly twist your wrist back and forth (the movement you'de use to turn a water tap on and off), but very sudden movements.

Plug it back in and see.
If that dont work you could try giving it a sharp tap with a screwdriver handle, on the side chassis, diagonally away from the power connector.

These solutions will only help if the drive is jammed or the bearing is stuck. If something is burnt out....forget it.

But check the other hardware first, as there may be nothing wrong with the drives.
