hard disk problem,help please...


i hv tried to install Mandriva 2006 on my desktop recently...i got two separate 160g hard disk in my desktop.Problem! i booted mandriva dvd from the dvd rom, every thing seems to be fine until i c the screen which said:" Installing driver for hard drive controller ATI Technologies inc ATI 4379 serial ATA controller" it took ages for this process and finally ended up with an error message! it said:" insmod'ing module sata_sil failed at usr/libdrakx/movles.pm, line 340" then i was forced to terminate the installation....my desktop is:AMD 64 Athlon 3500+ processor,1GB memery,320GB hard disk....can anybody help me please....?thank you!!

Can try another distro if the Mandriva DVD has been MD5sum-checked and found to be not faulty.

Or try booting a different kernel. Read the boot options and choodse a kernel that better fits your system setup.

I got the exact same error. I also have the ATI 4379 serial ATA controller and it said :"insmod'ing module sata_sil failed at usr/libdrakx/movles.pm, line 340"

I am however using the Mandriva CD image file. So it would seem it's a more general problem with movles.pm

This happens at the very start of the installation procedure and I can't find any workaround.

Well my Mandriva is the 4th disk and it is at the end of a 200Gb Maxtor Sata.
