Gyration Ultra GT Wireless Optical/Gyroscopic Mouse problems
I have a Gyration Ultra GT mouse (as described in title, (remove the *s) h*t*tp**:/*/w*ww*.*gy***r*at*ion*.c**o*m/*ul*trag**t.htm) and am trying to get it to work on Mandrake 9.1. At first it was just seen as an unknown USB device, but today I booted up when it's batteries were fully recharged and it was detected. It now acts as an amazingly good taskbar-screwer-upper. When used as an optical mouse, it acts correctly except for the bit where it randomly right- and left-clicks everything in sight, and when used in midair, it does what I just described, as well as zipping back to the lower left corner of the screen whenever I stop using it. In both modes the scroll wheel doesn't scroll, it only clicks. I think this is merely a problem of not having a good driver, but where can I get one?

Try disabling GPM if it's running, and also have a good look at the pointer section of /etc/X11/XF86Config(-4), the incorrect protocol can sometimes cause problems like this.

The pointer section is usually about 1/2 way down the file.

Did you find a solution to this? I also just purchased this mouse and am having problems setting it up in Mandrake 9.1. Even worse, I'm trying to make it work with Synergy ( http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/ ) for the ultimate setup, but I won't start discussing the problems associated with that...
