gtkpod: error reading iTunes DB.

(original 15Gig iPod, FC4, gtkpod)

OK, I try to read existing database from ipod and I receive this message:

Could not open "iTunesDB.ext" for reading extended info.
Extended info will not be used.
iPod Database Import Failed: 'Illegal seek to offset 2645214 (length 4) in file '/media/ipod/iPod_Control/iTunes/iTunesDB'.'

Anyone have any idea what's going on here? If it comes to it, I can physically move my library from win to linux on cd's but i'd really rather not.

cheers.

Use GNUpod for your initial setup (http://www.gnu.org/software/gnupod/). Don't fear the command line. Just read the docs and run the commands just like they say. It will guide you through creating the directory structure, creating the database, etc. With my wife's iPod, once I had everything set up with GNUpod, gtkpod just started working.

I had this same problem until this morning. I started messing around with the options of gtkpod, and came across something in the file menu that said "check ipod's files" clicked it, and my ipod's files started appearing. It took about an hour for all of my files to appear as it went through some sort of processing. I closed gtkpod then opened it back up, and when I hit "read" it read the database, and now syncs, and seems to be fully working. I'd give this a try before messing with GNUpod. Hope this helps
