GRUB hangs on an Intel Desktop Board D865GBF
 
Hi,
There's a XP partition and there's free space where I've tried to install Ubuntu that's failing to install GRUB, or better GRUB's installed but it hangs.

I've created a grub floppy (without fs), catting stage1 and stage2 to /dev/fd0
Now I write on the prompt
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
chainloader +1
BUT it hangs when I say
boot

I really can't find a reason! I've also updated the bios from BF86510a.86a.0046.p10 to BF86510A.86A.0075.P24

someone can help me? I have no clue about how install Linux on this PC.
