Running Ubuntu Feisty on a Shuttle SS51g v2 (sis 651 chipset I think) with an nvidia GeForce 6200 256mb, and the nvidia restricted drivers.
The problem I have is that intermittently it just crashes back out to the login screen. This can occur using nautilus, scrolling down web-pages, in fact almost anything can bring this on. Sometimes the pc will just hang completely, more often than not though it crashes out to the login screen. (and it was the same on Fedora 6, doesn't necessarily mean a driver issue but the fact it's happened across 2 distros...)
If I check through dmesg everytime it happens there is an entry saying that it's found an agp device. (nothing in the messages file though).
I've tried various settings in the bios for the agp aperture, and although the most stable seems to be 256mb the problem still occurs. (much more so if I set it to anything under this though).
Any ideas as to what could be causing this or how I can troubleshoot it further would be most appreciated. Probably more by my wife than anyone else as her hubby will stop swearing at the pc if it can be fixed...lol!
