Graphics Driver Problem

Hi, I am new too Linux, my friend introduced it to me about two months ago and it was great setting it up and I like alot about it but I have some HUGE issues with trying to find drivers for stuff. Currently I can not get Linux RedHat 8.0 to use my graphics card in hardware accelerated mode. So with out my graphics card I can not really use any of the games or photo programs I switched over to linux for.

I have a Winfast A250 TD ultra, (my vivo edition) *if that has any effect, it being the video edition. Normally in Windows 2000 this is a great graphics card. I can overclock it like a beast and it beats the pants off any of my friends in graphics rendering but when it comes down to using it in Linux I can not get a driver that seems to work. The setup recognizes it as a Geforce 4 (generic) *its a Geforce 4 ti 46000 nVidia chipset* and yet the ns driver or the driver I have tried installing from the Nvidia site will work. The games that came with RedHat run real slowly and lag beacuse I can not get the system to use the card in hardware acclerated mode.

So anyone PLZ help. maybe its something simple or something but I really want to get this fixed! Thanks to anyone who replies.

The current drivers from the nVidia website are for the kernel versions up to 2.4.18-18.8.0 and don't run on anything later.
I am using them for a simple TNT2 card and they are not GPL versions, which means we must wait for nVidia to catch up...
I have arranged to swap my card for a Matrox dual-head until nVidia do better...
