I came across an article at tom's hardware site talking about a
company called Peakstream which implements an API that lets the
processors of the video card share in the load of the cpu making the computer perform fast.
it is a software as fare as I could understand. is there some open
source like solution out there?
Not that I've heard of. All of this kind of thing is currently still in the novelty phase I think. GPU's are only any good at parallel operations, so its not particularly helpful for the usual CPU task.
