Good sata raid mobo for linux?

Hi all,
I'm looking into building a small linux server (file and web development) at home. I'd like to mirror a couple sata raptor drives for redundancy (hardware mirror from onboard raid), has anybody had success with this? and if so what Mobo was used? I did a search on the HCL here and couldn't really find a board listed that could be easily bought anymore it seemed. (it's all older stuff)

Probably looking at installing FC2 onto it, (tried suse 9.1 with zero luck on other machines already)

Thanks

steelgrave; to make sure all hardware is compatible check in with mandrakelinux hardware database. it,s tediuos but with patience it will furnish u with valuable information and save u some anxt without frustration later when things go south. doing that now with great payoff!
most of my choices fall within chosen hardware needs.

Forget on-board SATA. Buy a SATA controller from either Promise or Highpoint. Any motherboard will work. Controllers from Silicon Image, VIA, INTEL, Promise, Highpoint are not hardware RAID controllers. They are software RAID. If you want hardware RAID, have a look at 3ware controllers.
