"going OOM" after bringing natsemi nic up
 
Hi.
I recently stumbled upon a problem with National Semiconductor network card support under newest 2.6.13.2 kernel.
I am trying to Linux with vanilla kernel on a diskless IBM POS 500 terminal that has the above network adapter. The natsemi module loads fine, but when I bring the interface up I get flooded be tons of kernel error messages: "eth0: going OOM". Setting loglevel to 2 helps a little, but it's obviously not a solution - the network card doesnt work, and that ugly messages are showing up in dmesg.
What is wrong here? Am I missing something in my kernel configuration, or it may be a bug in the module itself? After my quick lecture of the module's source I found out that such errors have something to do with RX errors.
As far as i know this is not the case with faulty hardware - I've seen this particular piece of hardware properly supported by some old 2.4 kernel.
Because of nature of the problem and the computer I am working with it may be a little difficult to get the output of lspci from that machine. But such terminals don't consist of too exotic hardware - it runs on i386 architecture with Intel's Pentium or higher processor.
I can provide the config for the kernel I am trying to run there, but because I am lacking 5 points, I cannot use URLs in my post, maybe this will work:

The kernel was compiled with gcc version 4.0.1 (Debian 4.0.1-2).

If the information I have provided are insufficient I will try to get somehow the lspci output.

OK., I finally found out by myself, that it was because of gcc-4.0.
The same kernel compiled with gcc-2.95 works like a charm.
