Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Going from Linux to FreeBSD

Hey All,
I've just been forced (by my school, the owner of my computer) to convert from Mandrake Linux 9.2 to FreeBSD, but I cannot seem to get XFS86Config to work in FreeBSD. The program wants to save the config file to some weird /usr/sbin location (I forget the exact location...) and will not save it to /etc/X11/XF86Config even after I touch that file.
But I did a complete backup of my linux system (well, except stuff like /var/logs and /boot) and so I still have the XF86Config file I used in linux. I haven't changed any hardware, so will this config file work if I just copy it to the right location?
Thanks!

P.S.> Total newbie to FreeBSD, so please explain stuff in detail. Thanks!

EDIT> Just thought I would put in: I got the XF86Config to write to /etc/X11 and I looked at it, and it is very different from the linux one, so is there a program that would be able to convert the linux file to the FreeBSD file? Thanks!>EDIT

The file should be basically the same in linux and in freebsd. Really the only differences will be the pointer section and any paths to files. You should be pretty much able to copy over your linux config file and use it with some small alterations to the above sections.

Hey,
I tried copying sections over, but it failed (X would give me errors and shutdown) so I just got my friend (who runs FreeBSD on the exact same hardware) to give me a copy of his file. Thanks anyhow!
