Gigabyte X800XL 512Mb-Fedora Core 4
Hi all,
I have tried pretty hard to make this graphic card working with Linux (I have tried different distributions). I have also tried all suggestions available in this and other forum, but I am still not having any luck.
I wonder if someone in this forum can kindly help me in this matter.
Here is my current hardware specs:
MB: Gigabyte KB Triton nForce 4 SLI
CPU: AMD64x2 4200+
RAM: 2 Gb
Video Card: Gigabyte X800XL 512Mb
Distribution: Fedora Core 4
Kernel: 2.6.16-1.2108_FC4smp
I have tried to install FC5 but the installation procedure got stuck when the OS tried to initialize my Graphic card. I had the same issue with Suse10.
I downloaded and installed the latest ATI driver:
# rpm -ivh --force fglrx64_6_8_0-8.24.8-1.x86_64.rpm
When I run the ATI Control I get an error:
"Driver does not provide the FireGL X11 extensions!
Panel Components will operate only partialy"
then the control panel only provides with the following information
Vendor: Mesa Project
Renderer: Mesa GLX indirect
Version 1.2 (1.5 Mesa 6.2.1)
Previously I have also followed the instractions provided by borchen:
Still no luck.
Any clue is highly appreciate.
Cheers
