Unhappy getting SPDIF (optical) out with via8233a on RH 8

Hi,

Wellll i installed RH 8 few weeks ago and it seems to be working fine (although had some trouble configuring the sound, via 8233a on board). The thing is, analouge sound works fine with ALSA but can't get the SPDIF to work (not even a signal).

However when i installed the OSS drivers(eval version)the optical output worked fine.

I just want to know if anyone managed to get this working, as i need to set up my surround sound via the optical out

Thanx:

Sys Conf:
MSI KT3 ULTRA ARU
Athlon XP1800
GF3TI200
via8233a onboard sound
