Getting NOWHERE with nvidia driver

I login as root
telinit 3
sh NVIDIA [tab]

"error could not locate ls, make sure you you have bunutil installed ad if you do make sure it [points to] (?) ls"

I'm stuck!?!?

yepp
you need binutils installed

it comes with redhat

i dont know which cd it's on though

on redhat 9.0:
make sure your kernel source(they must match your running kernel) is installed
close your user-session
hit ctrl+alt+f2
init 3
cd /[folder with NVIDIA-driver]/
./NVIDIA[tab]
this should run it

anyway, when your fileutils(ls, du and other) are not installed, install them first.
i think redhat9 should have it installed by default

Oops, I need to change my sig, switched to Mandrake 9.1

If you have mdk9.1 installed, you should already have binutils installed, if not, go to the package tools under configuration on your menu. While you're there, install the kernel sources for the kernel you are using.
Don't know what kernel, open console,
type uname -r

Have fun!

"If you have mdk9.1 installed, you should already have binutils installed"

not if you do a barebones install

otherwise , yes, it's a standard part
