getting my old microphone to work with teamspeak

i have a microphone from an old gateway 2000 (233mhz, win95, that stuff), and when i found it while looking through my cable closet, i wanted to use it again. so i plugged it in, turned on mic volume, and downloaded teamspeak, which, as i expected, didnt see the mic. anyone have any suggestions (i didnt think it would be that simple )? i have alsa 1.0.4, kernel 2.6.5, and a cmedia8738 soundcard.

well, i got it working, and ill post what i did here, in case anyone comes along needing the same thing i did. i use alsa 1.0.4
1. plugged it in to the soundcard
2. remember that since its in the soundcard, the mic doesnt have its own /dev file. however, the address of the mic should be /dev/audio or /dev/dsp.
3. fire up alsamixer, turn on all the mic settings to highest, then, while the mixer is still up, say something into the mic. if you can hear your own echo, then your mic is working.
4. to get it with teamspeak: fire up teamspeak, go to settings/options and call your sound device /dev/dsp0. then go to settings/sound input & output settings, and tweak as you see fit.
