Getting Mandrake 10.0 to use the OMS sound driver not the ALSA

I have an on-board sound card and have chosen the drivers for it. However, no sound comes from the PC. I changed the output plugin on XMMS to use the OMS instaed of the ALSA one and it now plays files perfectly.

How can I change the rest of the operating system to use the OMS instaed so that I can get all of the sound effects and for all other software to work.

Thanks

Rich.
