Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Getting ATI All In Wonder 128 Pro (AGP) to work

Does anyone have an ATI All In Wonder Pro working fine in their system? I have no problem seeing a display. What I was wondering is there anyone that has successfully used the TV feature on their All in wonder card? I'm using Red hat 9. If you have used your TV feature please let me know, how and what programs, drivers did you used and were can I find them. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I do not believe that you can use the video-in feature. From the MythTV hardware section:
Quote:
NOTE: The ATI TV Wonder series and the ATI All-in-Wonder series of cards
are not the same. The All-in-Wonder cards will not work with MythTV.
The problem is acutally not that they don't work with MythTV, but that they don't work with video4linux, which is the backend for almost all video-in related applications.

Sorry!

I don't know, but all I have to say is... congratulations, you got further than me with an ati card, assuming you have gotten drivers installed.

I have that exact card. I have gotten it working with Xaxitv, Xawtv, Motv, and AVview. I will admit that it's a pissant though.

AVview is the best but it's also the hardest to set up.

I just installed Mandrake 9.2 after being away from Linux for months, so I'll have to learn the ropes all over again.

I just wanted you to know it will work.

BTW, I hated my experiences with Red Hat, and I have been a dedicated Mandrake User since 7.2...it just is so much easier.

I've gotten the AIW 9000 Pro up and running with the 3D accelerator cooking but no luck with the tv piece.

i keep getting told that /dev/video0 not found.

whats odd is that;
>xawtv -hwscan

appears to find the card. so, what are we missing here? how do we get the AIW associated with /dev/video0?

i'll keep hacking away.
