It doesn't appear to be possible, Canon is notorious for terrible Linux support, they refuse to work with the developers.
Adding to this question....If I have the original CD-Rom disc. Is it possible to install the driver from this CD, or do they have to be tailor made for the Linux... Incidently I am using Linux Mint 17 Quana
