Gentoo wont load my hdd... XPS Gen II

ok I have a Dell Inspiron XPS Gen 2 laptop

when I boot from the livecd my hdd is not detected
no devices pertaining to my hdd in /dev and fdisk /dev/hda no device found (obviously)

http://inherentsw.com/phpmyfaq/index...d=1&artlang=en

This is where I looked... the person was having the same problem, so I tryed giving the boot command 'gentoo noauto noprobe' in that url the person also described needing to load the module ata_piix. So I do a simple modprobe ata_pixx and then lsmod | grep ata_piix, the module is listed.

How the heck can I get my drive detected so that I can start partitioning it.... this is really starting to bug me. Thanks.

edit: wow that was the most wasted 15 min I have ever had....been a long day it was /dev/sda xD

Might work better if you used the right options.
Gentoo has excellent doco - and there's always F2 as indicated on the kernel load screen.
