First thing I did coming to this forum was search for that, because I know how annoying it can get having a board full of the same type of questions, because I am an administrator in a forum too. The problem I have with geforce4 MX 420 is that when i try to compile the drivers, or run the .rpm file on my Debian box, I get the following error message. It says that my kernel has been compiled with a different co9mpiler and this might cause problems on the runnin hardware that I am about to install, and it cancels the installation. It says that there is a way to ignore the check on the compilers by adding this IGNORE_CC_MISSMATCH (i think) My question is how do I do that, does anyone know.

Do "IGNORE_CC_MISSMATCH" followed by "export IGNORE_CC_MISSMATCH" then "make install"

and you can just use the "UNSUPPORTED DRIVER"

Unfortunately, you will have to recompile the kernel with your current gcc version, then compile the nvidia drivers

Thank you guys for helping me out. I thought that this post died out, so I didnt check it out for a while. Also what Aussie said worked fine, and I got to work compiling my drivers. Rodcl, I checked your little post on compiling the kernel and I kept it for future uses. Thanks a lot. One more question though. I compiled everything, but now I have a problem with the XF86Config-4 file. I think I am doing what I am suppose to but it doesn't seem to work. Could you guys help me on that, or am I asking too much I know this now startts to get a bit off topic of the forum and I apologise for that, If you want me to make a new post I will, I just think its not very necessary.

yes there is one thing that you have to do
Open your xf86config file and edit it.
where it says nv11 or nv17 it depends on the type of video card, delete it and type nvidia.
For a more detailed howto read the readme file that comes with the nvidia drivers.

I did what the how to for the X-config was saying. It says change Driver "nv" to nvidia and then remove dri and glore and add Load glx. But I didnt see it working? It says that the drivers are not found. I think.
