GeForce FX 5200 slow refresh with FC4?

I'm not really sure how to quantify this problem. I'm hoping someone is experiencing something similar...

I recently upgraded from FC2 to FC4. (An upgrade I would NOT recommend, BTW.) And the refresh rate of my display seems to be unusually slow. I thought it had always been this slow but I'm realizing that my computer can't seem to keep up with me like it did in FC2. For example, even know, the cursor cannot keep up with my typing.

The biggest place I see this is when I'm switching desktops. It takes usually 3-4 seconds for the image to finally display correctly.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I tried fiddling with the settings in the monitor settings (system-config-display) but nothing worked. Doing a restart does not solved the problem either.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm running a hyperthreading P4 with 1 GB of ram
NVidea GeForce FX 5200
No swap

thanks all!

Are you using the NVidia kernel module, or the xorg 'nv' driver?
If you were using the NVidia module on FC2, have you rebuilt it since the upgrade to FC4?

Hmm...I'll be honest. I don't know what module I'm using. According to the config, the module is built into the kernel. Does NVidea have an official linux module?

Well, I answered my own question:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html

I installed the Linux IA32 drivers...so far so good. I'll try this out for a while...

thanks mugstar for the hint.
