GE EasyCam
Hi, I am trying to see if I get linux to recognize this webcam. I am running VectorLinux, and have really not done any USB interface with Linux before. So far, all I have done is # cat /proc/bus/usb/devices and recieved a long list of Driver=(none). The driver that was recomended was Sonix sn9c102---, but while trying to compile the driver I get "*** No rule ro make target 'modules'. Stop"
Do I need to patch my 2.4.x kernel first?
Is there anything I can try to see if is recognizing it?
Thanks you, I will post a better explaination soon, and am currently working on it.

I have the same webcam. It cam in a two pack I gave the second to my parents.
It works in M$, but I have been searching for about a year to get it working under SUSE.
No luck.
Anyone planning on buying this webcam don't. It's junk. (my .02)
Regards,
Blair

I looked around and it reportedly works with the sn9c10x drivers at linux-projects . No luck here, but hey I dont know what I am doing, and I have yet to install everything I was supposed to.

Take a look in the HCL and see what you find. I think it is quicker than waiting for other people to post. Then maybe post your review too for other users.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Webcam and
http://freephile.org/wiki/index.php/USB_Webcam
most of these instruction require root or sudo access.
It should be noted that I had most problem with trying to (unknowing noob) install spca5xx while other driver was loaded and present. I had to rm the offending driver (sn9c102) and unload it using lsmod -r sn9c102. Follow above links to the letter (as I did on the fourth try). It works now. If there is a more eloquent way of doing stuff, I am more than willing to hear it. Hey, thanks again LQ!!!
Ps. the 'uname -r' is something worth knowing. Best of luck.
