games do not see mounted cdrom
 

I am trying to get Descent 3 for linux tro run but it sayd to insert and mount 2nd cd. I insert the cd but MD 9 Beta uses supermount and it will not notice that I have the second cd now inserted in the cdrom and mounted. What exactly do I need to do to unscrew this?

can you manually mount the cd with any problems ??

mount /dev/cdrom

Says there is not one. Its a burner. What it the command so i can view the symbolic link? should I instead try to mount that?

If it's an IDE burner, and you ARE using scsi emulation, the device is probably going to be /dev/scd0 or /dev/sr0

If you are NOT using scsi emulation, try /dev/hdc But this depends on your other drives and jumper settings. Here's a chart so you can decide which device to try to mount:
Primary Master = /dev/hda
Primary Slave = /dev/hdb
Secondary Master = /dev/hdc
Secondary Slave = /dev/hdd

FYI = When I type Primary Master, everytime I actually type Primary MasterC, just by force of habit. he he he ;)

scsi imulation. but cannot mount /dev/scd0. I can read from cds and can burn cds. Would you still think its a mounting problem?
