hello all,

have got above browser and cannot show applets --> i have the right plugin and when i look at "about plugins" it is there. i made a link to the actual plugin to make this happen

when i go to view an applet this is what the java console says:

the strange thing is that i have netscape 6 installed and it points to the same file for the java plugin and it works ??

i would much rather use galeon over netscape --> any ideas on how to get it working.

thanx heaps

Where did you get galeon and how did you install it - tarball, rpm, distrocd?
I had some fun the for last two days getting galeon 1.2.1 and mozilla 1.0 installed and working myself and see clearly now that a lot of things depend on a lot of other things there - galeon depends on mozilla and gnome. So whatever goes wrong could be because of this.
Don't even get me started on Java - that depends on the distro and whatever else.

Does your java installation work outside the browser?

hi there crashmeister,

i have LM 8.2 download ed.
default install was for mozilla 0.9.8 and galeon 1.0.3
i installed netscape 6.2.1 [2 days ago getting sick of not seeing applets - use them for online banking] and applets were fine

now [today] java doesn't work in netscape

just from looking at the post for doing a new install of the latest galeon --> looks like evrything interdependant like u say

should i just uninstall all of them and start again -- > dont really want to

thanx

Probably just a lib that mozilla doesn't find or a missing link. Why don't you just try to do a either a test for dependencies with rpm or configure if you got source and see what it is bitching about.
Plus if you decide to install everything again try it with netscape first.

Applets were fine and now they're not. They don't work in more than one browser where they should be. Maybe your java plugin got corrupted somehow. Maybe reinstalling Java will fix it.
