free linux that support dual cpu?
Hello all
i like to ask if any one know what version of free linux ( redhat, suse) support dual cpu using SMP ?? and if so is it automatic going into SMP processs or not ?? thanks alot prince amir |
Fedora, Suse and Mandrake support smp, you just need to install the right kernel.

From where i get the right kernel??
thanks |
you want smp kernels
just about all distros support this. |
Its not distro specific, if you have the 2.6.X kernel you can compile in SMP kernel that stands for symmetric multi processing, basically saying you want to use 2 processors recompile the kernel and bam dual CPU support
|
Yeah like they've said above as long as your kernel (2.6.x) has smp support you can have 2 cpu's. Normally you have to recompile and change the setting though some distros like debian (not sure of others) let you download a precompiled kernel with smp support.
