Floppy Stuff

Hi There,

Very new to Linux. Installed Red Hat 9.0. This floppy problem stems from another problem where I need to drop a dump error I get on to a floppy and then via sneakernet, bring it to a pc running windows and post the dump here so I can get some help. Here's what i did and discovered.

*Drop a floppy in the drive...format the filesystem as FAT using gfloppy or floppy formatter.
*I saved the dump to /root.
*I copy the dump which I saved as a .txt to the /mnt/floppy directory.
*The file appears to be on the floppy. But when I take it to another Windows machine or even another Linux box, it is not there. I have tried this atleast 6 times with the same results on different disks etc...

What am I missing or not doing correctly? Sorry for the basic question but I am really f***ing frustrated.

Thanks,
sko

/mnt/floppy is a folder, but I think the device has not been assigned to it.

As root type:

mount /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy

Now the /mnt/floppy folder represents the physical device.

Type 'man mount' for more info.

then copy the file.

regards,
unholy.
