Unhappy floppy problems

Hi,

I'm using a Shuttle Spacewalker m/board and running Mandrake 9. I've got several problems with the peripheral devices but at this stage i'd be happy just to get the floppy functioning. Linux seems to detect the hardware ok but when i try to read/write to a floppy it spins around for ages and nothing seems to happen; at this stage i eject it from the box. When i use the floppy format program, under floppy device textbox nothing appears. It's supposed to be supermounted, however linux is telling me it's unmounted. So when i try mounting it i get the error message "not a valid block device". I hope someone can help me on this.

Cheers,
=S=

Try, as root:

# mfs.ext2 /dev/fd0

and try to mount again, if doesn't post again the error message ...

#mount -t ext2 /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy

Thanks for your help :-)
I tried the command you suggested and linux just tells me there's no such command. Is there a typo in the command you suggested?
cheers
