Flatron Wide question

I just bought, less then a week ago, a Flatron Wide Monitor. The monitor specs are here https://hymuxonline.com/webshaper/st...oductItem=1630

I am also using an Nvidia GeForce 6200.

Everything looks great on the monitor except for the top center. The sides and bottom go right to the sides and fill in the screen. But on top I have a slight dip in the middle. The right and left corner go all the way to the top. So it is fine in the right corner and the slightly goes, "downhill, and in the middle it starts to go back "uphill." Like I said it is barely noticeable but I am like that with monitors. I am not sure if I explained that correctly or why the bottom or sides don't do the same things as the top does. What I am wondering about these monitors, or wide screens in general, is if they all do that or if it is normal. I am not seeing any flickering or unusual color or behavior except for that slight dip in the middle.

I am new to wide screen monitors, if you can't already tell. So I want to make sure all is well with this before the warranty expires.

Thanks in advance.

I would say that this is very much not normal. I've seen quite a few LCD monitors, and the dimensions/shape are supposed to be perfect. There's no strange image tilt, whirl or pinch controls like we had on all the old CRT monitors. The pixels should be straight along the sides and the top.

Edit: Does WinXP not have the issue??

I am not running XP anymore and I un-installed VirtualBox. I plan on reinstalling it in the next couple of days and putting XP back on it. I think I better take this monitor back and get it replaced. Thanks for the info.

I replaced the monitor with a new one, twice.

I have one question. This is giving me a headache. Do all LCD wide screen monitors fill the whole screen in or do some have an even, on all sides, "border" around it, maybe the viewing area? It is like this even when the computer is not on but the monitor is, well briefly before it goes into the energy saving mode. I know this is not specifically Linux related, I don't think. But I don't trust many other places to get info and this one I am getting annoyed with.

I am also wondering if this has something to do with my Nvidia GeForce 6200 card. I tried both the DVI-D and Analog with the same results.

Thanks in advance.

Going to test this with XP and see if it is a Linux problem

Well it has been a few days and I am getting nowhere with this fast, not even searching Google or various forums. I did find out someone that said this happens to them when the computer first boots, then when XP loads (with the drivers, etc,) it then fills in the whole screen. So I resized one of my hd's and I am going to install XP again and all the latest Nvidia drivers as well as the monitors drivers and see if this makes a positive difference. If it does then this turns into an issue with Linux that I will need to figure out.
