flat-bed scanner for linux

Any suggestion about the brand and type of a common flat-bed (A4 or LETTER) scanner that finds the SANE driver? (OS Debian Linux i386 or amd64). I also have VueScan, but, as you know, without having the scanner to check one can't rely on the VueScan list alone.

In Italy it seems that all flat-bed scanners for which SANE provides a driver are old stuff no more found on stores. Unfortunately my old HP 6200C stopped working, as I have reported on another thread.

thanks

I'm using the HP C6300 all-in-one wireless with openSUSE now. SANE works great with it...wireless scanning, printing, etc. One interesting thing, though...if I click on SCAN on the HPLIP program, it works great. If I try to acquire an image in the GIMP (again, which uses SANE/XSANE), it doesn't find the scanner. Could probably figure it out, but it's not annoying enough for me to fix. :)

Here in the US, it cost about $115 on Amazon.com.

I can mostly repeat what TBone said about my HP 6380 (All in one - wireless). But I don't use wireless (ethernet, with a real cable).
Everything worked in under half an hour (I use [B]LFS).

It was just over 200,= Euro's (Netherlands) when I bought it.

Just remembered:

Did you take a look at the HCL section of LQ? (HCL -> Scanners)

Hi

I know it's ancient, but have you considered looking for an old HP 4100c ?
I'm not sure if HP sold them in Italy.

Chris.

I still use my Epson Perfection 1650, god knows how old it is, but the data sheet I've just looked at is (c) 2001. I choose it specifically because it was on the SANE HCL.

I have used a Canon Lide 20 and Lide 25 with no issues. The newest is a HP2210 all in one printer that has a flat bed scanner also. Sane works just fine with all three. I use to use Kooka with previous OS's.I now use Mint 7 Gnome.
