Hello! I just installed Slackware 11 on my office laptop (Toshiba Tecra), and I can't get the flashdrive working. I followed the instructions on [threadid=90977], which did work well for my older Toshiba laptop. The command "tail -s 3 -f /var/log/messages" does not show any new messages while plugging and unplugging the 1 Gb flashdrive (which, by the way, works fine under Windows on the same laptop). The light on the flashdrive flashes if I plug it in. Any help would be much appreciated. Regards, Peter
Look in your /dev directory for /dev/sd* devices. On my system, the drive will show up, but just pop the /dev/sda1 device out there. I have to mount it manually, and it works fine from there.
Not sure about your Slackware, though, since it's been a little bit since I've touched that distro, but on Mandriva and SuSE, it works that way. Hope this helps.
