Angry firmware upgrades under Linux

Hi!

I have just installed the Debian Sarge RC3 into my new computer (which does NOT have any bundled OS or software). I really CANNOT afford the M*Shit Win XP.

However many firmware upgrade programs provided by the manufacturers are only produced for M*Shit Windows for my DVD-RW

or DOS for the BIOS of my motherboard

For DOS flash upgrade utilities, is it safe to use FreeDOS or OpenDOS?

For flash uograde utilities written for Windows, how can I safely upgrade the firmware under Linux WITHOUT using the M*Shit Windows?

Thanks for your help!

Mark

The floppy based image might be bootable. It may already contain something like Dr.DOS. Are you certain that the CDROM needs windows. You might try booting up with the CD.
