Last night my Internet connection went down. My Internet device no longer appeared in /proc/net/dev. Nothing I tried made it. lsusb returned:I've never upgraded the firmware of anything but I thought I remembered that interrupting the process could make the device unusable so I slept on it. In the morning it was still happening, so I reset it and now it works. I didn't upgrade the firmware; it must have happened automatically (if it happened at all; perhaps it merely went into the mode).

Does anyone understand this? Does it happen automatically triggered by a remote server?

that should be an android so system settings -> about device -> autoupdate
may have a setting for update only on wifi
or overnight

I don't see it. The only interface is through a browser. It has no screen.
