Firewire Card is STILL driving me nuts

I really thought I had cracked it the other day. I eventually managed to get my system to 'see' my firewire HDD (all 4 partitions) I even got them to mount. I logged out and logged back in again........Yep. Still there.....Restarted into Windows and actually managed to get some work done.....Got bored and rebooted back to Xandros and.......No firewire HDD's.

I went through the routine again:

insmod ieee1394
insmod ohci1394
insmod sbp2

remounted the drives again.

It now appears I need to run a script file rescan-scsi-bus.sh in order to get the drives to stick. So back to Google found the file and downloaded it and it now sitting on my dektop doing bugger all.

All documentation tells me how to use the script but can I found a simple setup routine i.e.
copy the file to /dir/dir/
type ?????? in console to install script
etc. etc.
Can I hell!!!
Even the book tells me how to create a script and what it can do....too much information.

Thanks for listening to the ramblings of a (nearly) madman

Regards

Jim

OK, I've sorted the shell bit and got the the device on the list. All I need to know now is how to make it mount automatically when I next reboot the system.
The options for each (ntfs) partition in fstab are:

ro,nosuid,nodev,noexec,nouser,async,umask=0

(which is the same for the other two internal drives)

Is it the fstab file that needs modifying or is there another, yet undiscovered file lurking in the depths of this box that requires attention?

Regards

Jim

Right, the penguin goes free.

As I didn't have all the directories and files mentioned by mdwatts it at least gave me a bit of a clue (Alright, I emailed tech support at Xandros).

Long story cut short:

the 3 modules were inserted into the /etc/devices/drivers file

regenerated? the modules (if that is the right term), rebooted the system and there were all my directories, right where they should be.

I can now die a happy man. Hang on, now, about this scanner........later

Regards

Jim
