Finding USB instances!!

Hi,

How to find out the number of USB instances on a machine?

lsusb lists three, but I can see only two physical ports on my machine. Which is the other instance?

Also, lsusb -v -s {busNum)DeviceNum) shows manufacturer detail as "3 Linux 2.6.5-7.191-smp uhci_hcd".What does this mean? How can the manufacturer be linux?

Please clarify.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Jayaraghavendran.K

Is this the same thing you are talking about?

Linux is manufacturer because it has provided the driver which has not been provided by th UHCI Controllers man. If that man. had provided it, it would have embedded its name in driver.

Hope this clarifies it

But incase of Linux 8 it is returning 0 for manufacturer. Why is this so?

Also, is there an ioctl call for finding out the manufacturer's name & vendor's name?
