Hey, that's even more expensive than hiring someone to make notes of my position at millisecond intervals and relate them to the signal logs!
On a side-note, since I don't want to start another thread so quickly, I have an asus eeePC that I'd really like to use for auditing, but last time I checked, the Atheros card in it doesn't go into monitor mode (it's running under NDisWrapper, as no native drivers are available). I'd rather not crack it open - can anyone suggest a USB wireless NIC that works well under Linux and will do monitor mode - as many bands as possible, preferably a/b/g?
And yeah, the more I google around, and make some calls to knowledgeable people, the best method seems to be just walking around with the laptop open, and typing in room numbers that I pass as I walk... not beautiful, but it works.
