Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Filesystems: Reiser vs. Ext3

When I installed SuSE 8.2 after I bought this computer, I decided to use ReiserFS instead of Ext3. I used Ext2 on my old computer, but since Reiser seemed to be SuSE's preferred FS, I went with that (figured it was worth a try).

Anyway, now I'm kinda curious, what's the difference between the two? Any advantages to Reiser over Ext3 or vice versa?

ResierFS is traditionally known for excellent small file performance - under certain conditions its performance is significantly better than ext2/3 - however its also "quirky" relative to ext3 which is known as a more mature, well rounded filesystem whose performance is a little more consistent over a wide range of tasks - a quick google should bring up some more detailed info.
