files recognized nothing there..??

Hello guys,

This is a red hat Enterprise OS
there are 2 drives , on holding user info the other holding os and config files etc.

The drive with users and whatnot is fine, the other drive with the os will list files but upon accessing those files there is nothing there. Is there a way to somewhat revive this drive to its origional working order without losing any of the data on it? The system boots and all but nothing after boot in the way of reading files on the /root partition....

It sounds like you may have a corrupt filesystem. Try bringing up the system with a rescue cd then check the partitions using fsck:
fsck /dev/hdxn

Is it possible to fix the corrupt filesystem if in fact that is what it is?

Yes, for a full list of repair options see "man fsck", you should be able to do an automatic repair with:
fsck -a /dev/yourdev
