Files missing on NTFS partition

Linux doesnt display all files and dirs on my ntfs partition. In windows xp i can see them well. My system is Gentoo Linux wiv kernel 2.6.7 from the gentoo portage tree and all compiled and moduled as it should be.I had the same problem on the slackware distro wiv a vannila kernel 2.6.5. Please help cuz i have important files there. Thx
