File System Type

When I partition my hard drive, what file system should it be that I install Linux on? Should it be NTFS or FAT32, or Linux EXT2 or Linux EXT3?

Either ext3 or reiserfs. Ext2 is not journaled and a power failure can make you have to re-install.

I agree with jmings. NTFS and FAT32 are for Windows systems, not Linux, and given a choice between ext2 or ext3, ext3 is better due to the journalling function. If reiserfs is also an option, I'd recommend it for performance purposes. -- J.W.
