Fglrx tells me I have no screens present!

I have an ATI radeon HD2600XT. I have tried multiple versions of the fglrx driver, from livna, from the ATI website, and some others. I've tried different versions of my OS - Fedora 7 64bit at the moment, but I've tried FC6 32 & 64 - I've tried a number of suggestions of threads with similar issues but to no avail! Whenever I install/enable fglrx and reboot the machine X windows will not load, it reports an error and I have to revert to an earlier setup. The error reports I have no screen.

uname -r gives : 2.6.22.9-91.fc7
