fglrx resolution problem

Ok i'm running openSUSE 10.2 I have an ATi X800 XL AGP i installed the latest version of the ATi Linux drivers follwing the directions on the openSUSE website. When i go and run init 3 and then i go and run sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx and set my resoultions for my monitor to lcd 1280 x 1024 and the same to my graphics card. I reboot and it changes the resoultion to like 1152 x 864 and it won't let me go any higher. I was able to do that with the generic drivers that i had before which worked really nice compared to this stupid fglrx stuff. I'm not real exprianced with linux i'm learning obviously what can i do to go back to 1280 x 1024. Or if i can't get it to work with fglrx what can i do to go back to the generic drivers?

Here's some more information that i found. When i configure sax2 it's configured so the monitor can handle 1280 x 1024 at 75 refresh rate which i have been using since i got the monitor so i know it can handle it along with my graphics card. Sax2 is configured right however when i go to change the display settings in KDE it won't let me go to 1280 x 1024 at any refresh rate the highest it goes is 1152 x 864.
