Few questions about TFT monitors

Hi there!

I've some doubts about a TFT monitor. The monitor I use right now is a CRT and started to be _way_ too dark. Needless to say, it's time for a new monitor .

Been hunting down some stores over here and I came across some affordable TFT monitors 17". It has a response of 25ms, which sounds a bit slow, but here comes the questions:

1) Is a 17" monitor with a 25ms response too slow for games (important) or DVD playback? (less important)

2) How well does Linux (or even FreeBSD) work with those monitors? Any odd fonts, shadows, colors, resolutions? Anything that you could say about that?

For about the same price, I could a 21" CRT monitor, which would be neat with games. However, those monitors usually weight over 70 pounds and that's a lot to carry around (I live really far from the store I've found the monitor), since I don't have a car and home delivering would increse the price too much to even be worthy. Besides, they really make the desktop "cleaner" .

Any comments are welcome and I thank you in advance.
